New PLC Capital & Counties (Capco), owners of Covent Garden and the famous venues of Olympia and Earls Court, have retained Beyond Green to assist them in making plans for a superb new city quarter.
Collaborating closely with Transport for London and the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Capco is working with local stakeholders to plan for a balanced and mixed community endowed with some of the timeless, resilient qualities of the best of London and the infrastructure and agility fit for a sustainable 21st century global city.
It’s an ambitious brief -rightly – and, arguably, the best opportunity in London for truly sustainable place-making at scale. Three London Underground Stations within walking distance, a host of new street connections and the opportunity to plug into Boris’s new cycle super-highways, there’s every opportunity for ease of (low carbon) movement.
Terry Farrell and his team are making a great job of the urban design under the leadership of Capco’s Richard Powell and Anette Simpson, ensuring that it’s a pleasure for Beyond Green to sneak in its ideas without sustainability feeling like just gilding. And Capco mean business; they want to make a great and lasting mark on the capital – elegantly and sustainably.
Beyond Green is assisting with visioning, strategic planning, policy, place-making and a pioneering piece on how outstanding deign of place, streets, open and green space and buildings can enhance the quality of our experience of cities while inspiring and enabling low impact sustainable lifestyles.
